So I recently had another article published on The Haute Mess! I may sound cheesy, but I can’t help but do the happy dance whenever I see another one of my pieces published!
ESPECIALLY when Ashley Tisdale shares the article herself for her fans to read (*insert freakout moment*)
Being that I am still doing the happy dance, I thought I would share with you my newest piece. Hope ya’ll like it! 🙂
Selena Gomez recently released what she calls her best album yet in “Revival.” While I’ve spent my days listening to every song nonstop, I can’t help but realize that, like any other twenty-something, we have all gotten to a point in our life where we want to start over and grow into our own, the way WE want.
As we grow older, we not only learn to begin living our life, but actually loving it. Selena has been very open with her struggles with insecurities, but she’s now feeling like the ultimate girl boss and sharing with the world that it’s okay to go through shit and admit it.
We all battle our own insecurities. We have all dealt with haters. We have experienced heartbreak in some form. We have all wished to be someone different.
Growing up is hard and can be overwhelming, but what’s important is to ensure that you can come out on top, rather than continuing feeling like you’re on the bottom.
While Selena’s album has many fun tunes (Blast “Me and My Girls” with your girlfriends for that much needed Girl power), the lyrics she uses are not only vulnerable and honest, but relatable.
It’s clear she went through her fair share of heartbreak, identity confusion and haters. What is great about this album is her message that despite everything, we can rise from our struggles and low points. We are a lot stronger than we give ourselves credit for and are in charge of how we convey ourselves and handle our lives.
We aren’t victims of our scars, but rather survivors.
Like Selena has embraced, here’s why we all need our own revival:
- We can start over and create a new story
- We have the power to decide who we want to be and we will be
- We learn to love life, for it is now in our complete control
- We aren’t ashamed of our past, but use it as motivation to make our future even better
- We become a lot stronger than we ever realized we could ever be
Selena Gomez has proven that, regardless of her fame, she is still a normal girl in her twenties, trying to figure shit out as she goes. Instead of giving up and falling victim to the struggles we can go through, she has learned to love the skin she’s in and use her falls as every reason to get back up and rise above it all.
If you ask me, there’s nothing more powerful than that. So get up and do you girls! Be yourself and own it!
We all don’t have to have it figured out, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun while we learn who we all are in the process.
